Mrs. Westbrook started at Sierra Mountain Music Camp in 1996 as a camper singing in the Senior Girls Choir, then directed by Lynn Stevens. Since that time, she has not missed a single camp session, and has transitioned from a camper to a counselor, to head counselor, she was elected as a Board member on the Sierra Mountain Music Camp Board of Directors in 2005, and most recently, accepted the role of Administrative Director in July 2008.
Education has had a strong influence throughout her life. Julie holds Bachelor’s Degrees in both Economics and in U.S. History from UC Davis. She then continued to CSU Sacramento and earned a Masters in Business Administration in 2007. In addition to her role as Administrative Director for Sierra Mountain Music Camp, she also works in accounting and operations with a Sacramento area startup company.
Julie is a Sacramento native, with a passion for music and the arts that began in childhood. Complimenting her camp experience, she participated in school choirs, had the privilege to sing with the CMEA Capitol Section Honor Choir (1997-2000), performed with a local children’s theater at the Chautauqua Playhouse, and performed monthly with a contemporary music group and choir, Celebration Singers (1999-2008). In addition, she has been part of her church's Contemporary Worship Team since 2000, and continues to sing as often as she can.
When asked to look back at her camp experience, Julie said, “SMMC changes lives. It changed mine. I could not imagine how my life would have been without camp being part of my life.” As we move into the future, she commented, “Our mission – ‘Enriching lives through musical excellence, fun, and community,’ is our legacy and commitment, and I look forward to each coming year, with new, talented campers, returning friends, fabulous music, and above all, memories and friendships that last a lifetime.”
