"Enhancing Children's Lives
through Excellence in Choral
Music"
The Sacramento Children's Chorus
serves children of all ages. Young
children are immersed in training
programs, which include singing for an
audience. Upper elementary and
middle school singers enjoy an
advanced choral experience in which
the love of music develops into
performance excellence. High school
students  focus their skills in small
musical groups, many of whom plan to
pursue professional music careers.

Enhancing Children's Lives...
Sacramento Children's Chorus
members are exposed to the finest
choral literature with instruction from
highly accomplished directors. Singers
perform locally, nationally and
internationally. At every level - from
the basics of music theory to
performances with operas and
orchestras - the SCC enhances
children's lives with music and deep
friendships.

Through Excellence...
From the rehearsal room to the
magnificent choral performance
venues, SCC's commitment to
excellence is constant. Each chorus
member at every level is encouraged to
do their best. The results - for singer
and audience alike - are breathtaking.

In Choral Music...
Singers with the chorus blossom as
their knowledge of music deepens,
their choral music skills develop, and
their appreciation of diverse cultures
and languages grows. Their
experiences help mold a lifelong love of
choral music.

New!
KinderChorus
"first experiences in singing"

Sacramento Children’s Chorus is pleased to offer
a new level of instruction for younger singers,
KinderChorus.

*designed for
kindergarten-aged children
*no audition required
*non performance class
(open house demonstration
for parents)
*17 weekly classes,  50 minutes in length
*$265 tuition
*curriculum based on Kodaly model
 If you can
walk, you can dance and if you can talk, you can sing”
The Kodaly Method
*with an  emphasis on introducing the young child
to basic musical skills through group activities
that foster self-confidence and a love of music.
*located at The Lutheran Church of the Good
Shepherd
(1615 Morse Avenue, at Arden, Sacramento, CA 95864)

Today’s evidence shows that children who
participate in music class at least once a week
develop basic reading skills faster and tend to
have higher math, science and critical thinking
skills.  Music classes develop listening skills and
symbolic thinking, as well as a means of
socialization.

*enroll NOW for classes starting mid January
2009 (class limited to 18 children)

Chorus and does free-lance accompanying and
concertizing.  She is affiliated with the Music
Teachers Association of California and the

Rave reviews: ”My daughter has far surpassed
my expectations since she began study with
Helen Mendenhall.  Helen expects the best from
her students and encourages them to attain the
same.

“My granddaughters, who both studied with Ms.
Mendenhall, don’t just ‘play the piano.’ Helen has
taught them much more – she has given them
Music.”
