Resident children’s choral, string orchestra and symphony music camp promoting music excellence, personal growth and fun in the Sierra foothills. Designed to supplement music education cut from school budgets, camp will be held June 25 through July 1, 2006.
Our camp will be celebrating its 12th year with our concert held at the Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church in Fair Oaks on Sunday, July 2, 2006 at 4 p.m. Contact camp office for ticket information. 916-967-SONG (7664).
Featuring: Guest Conductor Michael Neumann of the Sacramento Youth Symphony; Special Guest appearance at camp from the Sacramento Children's Chorus; proud participants of the National Anthem Project sponsored by the MENC.
Appropriate for children entering 4th grade through high school, college. College students and high school seniors are encouraged to apply as counselors.
Camp is conducted with a “goal” in mind, a concert at the end of an exceptional week in the mountains. Camper’s gain new musical skills, learn to work together as a team, and experience the great outdoors with hikes, athletics, and arts & crafts.
Evening activity programs unify cabin groups in cheerful competition with games, skits, campfire songs, and social dances. Individuality is encouraged with solo’s, ensemble groups, artistic expression and our talent show where camper’s may display their unique abilities. Responsibility and personal growth is developed by learning how to co-operate with cabin mates, counselors, music directors and staff; shared communal dining room table setting & clearing, activity period set-up & clean-up, and general campground stewardship. Leadership skills are acquired by shared responsibilities, compassion toward fellow campers, as well as a shared respect for the environment, physical and academic.
