Last Updated 1:21 pm 06/25/2008 Since the air throughout Northern California is still smoky recreation activities have been adjusted accordingly to suit the air quality. SMMC Staff have verified that required campers have their inhalers and are doing well. As of the update time above, http://www.fire.ca.gov/ lists the following: "Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit: All fires have been contained." Let's all give a Big Cheer and Thank You to the men and women of our Fire Departments on the quick reaction to the recent CA Fires. Previous Update at 3:45 pm 06/23/2008
Sierra Mountain Music Camp at its Diamond Arrow location is currently safe and 40+ miles from any of the California fires in the area.
This update is to provide concerned parents and guardians with an update that the campers and staff are safe and not in any immediate danger. As campers safety is the #1 priority for SMMC we have already verified that in the event of any problems we have an evacuation plan in place and approved by C.D.F. (California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection). In the event of any problems Parents\Guardians will be contacted directly as is the normal practice of SMMC. As mentioned before, there is no immediate danger and camp is proceeding with the normal day of Music! (ohh and having a little fun here are there too!) We will continue to update the SMMC website with any new information. To stay up to date on the latest official news please refer to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection website. http://cdfdata.fire.ca.gov/incidents/incidents_current Or your local news websites http://www.kcra.com/index.html http://www.news10.net/ http://cbs13.com/ Thank You, SMMC Camp Administration |
